CLARION — The Wright County Board of Supervisors has approved a 28E agreement with Hamilton County to share the services of Hamilton County Engineer Dan Waid.
Wright County Engineer Steve Reitz is leaving the state to accept a new job.
The Hamilton County Board of Supervisors must still approve the arrangement.
The agreement will run through June 30, 2009.
Under the agreement, Wright County will pay half of Waid’s $110,000 salary plus fringe benefits monthly.
Wright County will also pay half of Waid’s monthly expenses including travel, cell phone service, health insurance, professional memberships and mileage as well as $250 towards vehicle replacement.

RSVP will honor its volunteers April 12
MASON CITY — RSVP of North Central Iowa will hold its annual Volunteer Recognition celebration Saturday, April 12, in the Atrium at Waldorf College, Forest City.
The “casino-themed” event will focus on thanking more than 225 volunteers representing Cerro Gordo, Hancock, Winnebago and Worth counties, who serve in RSVP’s six programs: Reading Buddies, Breakfast Buddies, Reading Coaches, Conversation Partners, Academic Coaches and Entrepreneur for a Day facilitators.
Hosts for the event will be RSVP’s Advisory Council members: Jan Anderson, Joice; Ruth Miller, Tim Fleming and Coni Samsel, Mason City; Pam Angstman, Buffalo Center; Laura Friesenborg and Roberta Kraft-Abrahamson, Forest City; Jason Ramaker and Beth Nyguard, Lake Mills; Brenda Hanson, Britt; Andy Hill, Manly; John Severtson, Clear Lake, and Dennis May, Kensett.
KLMJ Antique Tractor Parade is Aug. 30
THORNTON — KLMJ’s sixth annual Antique Tractor Parade is set for Saturday, Aug. 30.
This year’s parade of antique tractors will start in Thornton at the North Iowa Cooperative. The morning route will go through Meservey, Alexander, Latimer and to Hampton’s Bandshell Park for a one-hour antique tractor show at noon during Hampton’s Summerfest Celebration. The afternoon route will go through Hampton to Beeds Lake, Chapin, Sheffield and back to Thornton.
The ride starts at 7:30 a.m. in Thornton. Registration is $35. Registration forms are online at klmj.com or at KLMJ Studios on Highway 65 North in Hampton. Deadline for signup is July 1.
